Amosun’s wife:I wasn’t arrested for money laundering in London

Amosun’s wife:I wasn’t arrested for money laundering in London

Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, yesterday denied that she was arrested for alleged money laundering of about $300,000 in London. She spoke in Abeokuta against the backdrop of the money laundering allegation which went viral on the social media since last week.
Fielding questions from reporters shortly after distributing free milk and other items to hundreds of expectant and lactating mothers at the State Hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, on behalf of the wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, who was the donor, Amosun said the report of her arrest was untrue.
The first lady declared that the rumour of her arrest or detention abroad was a concoction and a figment of the imagination of mischief makers. She said she had never been involved in money laundering or any other crime and would never contemplate such. She added that her husband, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, remained a man of integrity who would not condone such things.
The governor’s wife said: “I never did anything of that nature (money laundering). But as you can see to the glory of God it’s not my portion; it shall never be my portion and I believe that you know your governor, His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, I am sure you know he’ll never be involved in anything that is associated with money laundering or anything negative like that. “So, as you said, it’s a rumour and it shall remain so.
It didn’t happen, it hasn’t happened and it shall not happen.” Speaking on the milk supplement donation by Buhari’s wife, the first lady said the gesture was aimed at ensuring the wellbeing of nursing mothers and their babies.
