Nothing wrong in DSS probe of Rivers’ REC, says APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State, chapter has said there was nothing wrong in the Department of State Security (DSS) on-going probe of the state’s resident electoral commissioner (REC), Dame Gesila Khan and other staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party chairman Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, who conveyed this in a statement, alleged that there was “an unholy alliance” between the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) and Khan, stating that the APC, was in support of DSS probe of Khan and other INEC staff. He said that the PDP, was against the probe because of its “known dalliance” with Khan, noting that a petition written against the DSS probe by Rivers State PDP House of Representatives members, has made it very clear that all was not well during the last elections. He said: “By petitioning the DSS over the probe of Mrs. Gesila Khan, the PDP Reps have publicly exposed the unholy alliance between their party and REC Khan, of which we have been crying even before the March 28 and April 11 elections, that she brazenly took sides with the PDP and worked overzealously to return the party’s candidates for all the position.
