Cholera claims six in Delta community
At least six persons have died in Aladja, close to Warri in Delta State following an outbreak of what is believed to be choler Cholera outbreak is common in coastal areas of the country during the rains. It spreads fast through contaminated food and water particularly when an infected person defecates in the source of water for a community.
According to the Ministry of Health, about 85 people have been affected so far. Another eight with symptoms of the disease are said to be on admission at the government hospital in the community. The ministry has mobilised personnel to Aladja and environs to treat affected persons and take preventive measures. Those affected are being treated for free while all those who experience the symptoms of the disease have been admonished to rush down to the hospital.
