Ten immediate past local government chairmen in Niger State have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the All Progressives Congress in what seems as the fallout of last Saturday’s presidential election.
The former chairmen, who defected on Friday in Minna, are Jibril Kallamu, Tafa Local Government Area; Dauda Umar, Magama; Musa Tessan, Lavun; and Ibrahim Isah, Rafi Local Government Area.
Others are former Caretaker/Chairman, Borgu Local Government Area; Hajia Zainab Waziri; Yerima Abdullahi, Shiroro; Nasiru Shambo, Rijau; and Mohammed Saidu Pissa, from Borgu Local Government Area.
The APC Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, described the defection as a tonic for the party.
According to him, the era of using security agencies to intimidate voters and party men are over.
Vatsa said no matter the amount of money allegedly budgeted to induce voters would make them to change their minds because the people had resolved to support the progressive team.
