Ondo APC candidates seek inspection of election materials


The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for Ilaje constituency 11, and Akure south constituency 1 in Ondo State, Messrs Gbenga Edema and Festus Aregbesola have applied for an order before the Election Petition Tribunal to inspect the election materials used for April 11 election in the state.
The two state constituencies were some of the contentious results being challenged before the Election Petition Tribunal sitting in the state.
The APC was challenging all the National and State Assembly election results it lost to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while the PDP was challenging the five House of Assembly seats it lost to the rival political party.
Edema and Aregbesola sought the permission of the Tribunal to Inspect the INEC voters registers, result sheets and other documents used for the conduct of April 11 House of Assembly Election in Ondo state in order make certified True copies and tender it during the trial of their Petitions before the Tribunal.
The application filed by the petitioners’ counsel, Charles Titiloye for was seeking to obtain copies of the computer print out of recording of accreditation carried out by card reader Machine used by Independent National Electoral Commission for the said election.
The applications and other petitions would be heard during the pre-hearing session fixed for Wednesday and Thurday
The date was fixed based on filing of replies by Respondents to petitions before the Tribunal.
Counsel to APC, Charles Titiloye and that of PDP, Remi Olatubora confirmed the receipt of Pre-hearing notices issued by the Tribunal Secretary.
The hearing of applications and settlement of issue would take Place during the pre-hearing session.
