Customs hand over seized hemp to NDLEA

Officials of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have intercepted a large consignment of Indian hemp weighing 1,259 kilograms from suspected traffickers at the border town of Imeko in Imeko- Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The illicit substance was neatly packed in 359 parcels and 90 sacks but discovered by NCS operatives along Imeko axis.
The state Customs Area Controller, Haruna Mamudu, disclosed this yesterday in Abeokuta while handing over the seized consignment to officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The NDLEA was led by its Principal Staff Officer (Public Affairs), Abdullahi Sardauna. According to Mamudu, the illegal consignment was seized from the suspected traffickers following a tip-off.
The Customs boss stated that the 359 parcels of hemp were seized on Sunday while the 90 sacks were confiscated about two weeks ago.
