Lagos creates emergency line for flood

Lagos State Government yesterday dedicated an emergency telephone number for the residents to notify the government whenever they notice flood-related issues in their streets, neighbourhood and highways.
A 12-year-old girl, Kehinde Popoola, was last week swept away by flood at Orilowo Ejigbo in Ejibo Local Council Development Area.
But the government, which described the dedication of the line as part of efforts to reduce the incidence of flooding to the barest minimum, urged the residents to call 0809 918 3777 for urgent attention on flood prone areas.
T he Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services, Ayodeji Adenekan (an engineer), who made the disclosure, re-reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring safety of lives and property.
