Pastor donates N500,000 to save boy with lump

The General Overseer (GO) of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Dr Chris Okafor, brought joy to the family of Sola Afolabi when he donated N500,000 to save their son, Oluwanimilo, from a tormenting lump in the head.
Expressing appreciation, the father of the tree-year-old boy, said he did not know that there were still pastors who really cared about other people’s wellbeing.
He said: “The general belief is that today’s pastors only amass wealth for themselves.” Afolabi recalled that Oluwanimilo had lived in perpetual pains from birth owing to the lump which he first thought was a boil.
He added: “We noticed the lump on his head right from the day he was born. He was born on January 12, 2012. It was the mother that noticed the lump; and as at that time, the lump was very small. “Initially I thought it was a boil and I waved it aside, believing it would go away; but as days turned to weeks, we noticed it was growing in size.” According to him, his family was advised to take the child the Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
He added: “At LUTH, we were told he could not eat because the passage where food goes to was blocked. As I speak with you, he only eats through the tube attached to his navel. “Doctors at LUTH prescribed an operation to rectify the anomaly, but insisted that it could not be carried out immediately because the boy was still young.”
When Oluwanimilo turned one, his parents took him back to LUTH but they were told that he was still too young. Speaking after the donation done on behalf of Chris Okafor Humanity Foundation, the GO said whatever position God gives anyone in life was not because of one’s work, righteousness or qualification but by the mercies of God.
He noted that practical Christianity is captured in the Book of Matthew 25 verse1-46: “Jesus said: I was hungry I came to you; you did not give me food to eat. I was thirsty, you did not give me water, I was sick you did not come to visit me.
And you will say, lord when were you hungry that we didn’t give you food, or when were you thirsty that we didn’t give you water, and when were you sick that we didn’t visit you? And Jesus will reply that when you do for those that didn’t have, you have done for me.”
Offering scriptural explanation, the man of God said: “You can’t do anything for God. The only thing you can do for God is to reach others. The Bible says he that lendth, lendth to God. You don’t help someone because of what they can give to you.”
