A report from Reuters says that the Chadian army has killed hundreds of Boko Haram fighters, losing nine of its own men in fights in Northern Nigeria.

Colonel Azem Bermandoa, spokesperson for the Chadian army said the soldiers had driven out the insurgents from Malam Fatori, one of the Boko Haram strongholds in Nigeria. The clash on Wednesday was what occurred as the troops were mopping up Borno state.

"There was fighting and we recorded nine dead and 16 injured. There were hundreds of dead on Boko Haram's side," he said.

Meanwhile President-Elect of Nigeria has promised to spare no effort in the war against terrorism when he assumes power.
