Queen Elizabeth Dissolves British Parliament As General Election Looms

Queen Elizabeth announced the dissolution of Britain's Parliament on Monday, paving the way for general elections on May 7.

According to the Fixed-term Parliaments Act of 2011, Parliament must be dissolved 25 days before the general election.
The compressed elections give politicians 38 days to court voters.
Prime Minister David Cameron addressed reporters Monday outside 10 Downing Street, urging voters to reelect him so that he could continue to provide "strong leadership" and could continue to safeguard Britain's national and "economic security." His campaign, he said, will take him to "all four corners of all four nations of the U.K."
