The Nigeria Football Federation has said that it will encourage Nigerian football clubs to quote on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange. NFF President Mr. Amaju Pinnick who stated this yesterday during a courtesy visit with the Super Eagles’ Coach, Sunday Oliseh, to the Nigerian Stock Exchange said listing Nigerian football clubs became necessary to enable the clubs to align with their counterparts in advanced economy.
“We are hoping to make things symbolic by encouraging listing some clubs as it is done in other climes,” Pinnick said. He commended the audacious reforms the NSE has been implementing to create a fair and orderly market that inspires the trust and confidence of domestic and foreign investors.
Pinnick noted that the reform initiated by the market regulators which was mainly geared towards repositioning the exchange for profitability has improved the market. According to Oliseh, Nigeria’s a capitalist economy and the only way out for football clubs is to attract investment and one way of doing that is to come through the stock market.
