Go after Tinubu, Amaechi, other APC leaders, PDP tells EFCC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed regret that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), since the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, is arresting and intimidating only PDP members who served in the immediate past government.
PDP Acting National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, ‎who spoke Thursday in Abuja, noted that there were also grave allegations raised against former Lagos and Rivers States governors, which the EFCC has not deemed fit to invite for questioning, ostensibly because they are APC members.
“We want the president to note that the‎ EFCC has only arrested PDP members who served in the previous government while APC members were left alone.
“‎Have former APC governors been given clean bill of health or is war aimed at ensuring that PDP did not exist as opposition?” he asked.
Prince Secondus advised that  the EFCC should not be selective or one-sided in the war against corruption.
The Acting PDP National Chairman also spoke on the allegation of the embezzlement of N12 billion against the National working Committee (NWC) by workers of the party.
According to him, the total amount PDP made from sale of nomination forms ‎ during the general elections, was a little over N11 billion and not N12 billion as alleged by the workers.
“And according the guideline of the party, this money was shared among the state, local government and the zones.
“The state chapters were given 10 per cent; local government and zones five per cent each. People were sent on assignment and 15 percent was spent on this. The remaining was used for the elections. We raised the money and we used the money for elections. Nobody embezzled any money even the workers said so in their apology letter,” Secondus explained.
‎He commended the party’s leadership in the National Assembly for their satisfactory performance since inauguration, and promised that the NWC will work with them to reposition PDP as a virile opposition party.
Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio who led other leaders of the PDP in the Senate on courtesy visit on the party’s leadership, said the party members in the National Assembly endorsed the actions taken by the NWC since May 29.
Akpabio said the members have passed a vote of confidence on the NWC, and expressed happiness that the crisis between the NWC and the workers has been resolved.
‎He, however, stated that there was need for downsizing “because we are no more in the villa any longer.”
