There was palpable tension yesterday at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) when the party denied the former governor of the state and the emerged governorship candidate of the party, Prince Abubakar Audu, his certificate of return over awaiting petition.
Sources at the party secretariat told newsmen that some party leaders were initially not comfortable with Audu’s candidacy, saying he will be to big for them to control.
The former governor, who came to the party house with a large crowd was practically disgraced with his supporters by the self center part leaders.
A competent member of the National Working Committee of APC however, told our reporter in confidence that Audu was denied certificate of return and asked to come back the following day because Tuesday was actually the last day of grace given to other aspirants who may want to petition APC as regard the outcome of the primaries conducted by governor Nasir El-rufai.
