Super Eagles Head Coach, Sunday Oliseh, has said his mission in the senior national team is not to enrich himself by selling players. Oliseh who was speaking during his presentation to the media on Monday in Lagos, said it was better to achieve results than to engage in the unwholesome business of marketing players as the national team handler.
He argued that the money he would earn as an agent couldn’t be up to the fame, glory and even money that he would make with good results. The former Eagles skipper said: “For example, an agent gets 10 per cent of the deal maximum and that cannot be a big deal compared to what I can get during a visit to the president or Lagos State governor after winning the Nations Cup.
“My focus is on raising a solid team to achieve results and make Nigerians happy again in football. I am not in the Eagles to sell the players but to raise them to become champions. “I am aware players talk a lot and by the time one engages in other things apart from the primary role in the team, there will be problems and one may lose control. I don’t want that to happen.”
The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, who was also at the meeting called for total support for Oliseh. “We at the NFF have no doubt about the ability of Oliseh to do well. All we need is the support of Nigerians and members of the press,” Pinnick said. Oliseh was at the Nigerian Stock Exchange also yesterday to ring the Market closing bell as part of the moves by the NFF to woo corporate Nigeria. Super Eagles camp opened on Monday with 21 homebased players for the 2017 AFCON qualifiers against Tanzania scheduled to hold on September 5 in Dar er Salam.
