Stop use of criminals for security, Dakuku urges politicians
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers state, Mr. Peterside Dakuku, has bemoaned the Nigerian political class for their patronage of criminals as security agents, stating that the police was the constitutional authority established to protect lives and property. He said the citizens must seek for an effective reform of the police force which would make police personnel well equipped with strategy to carry out their work as anything to the contrary would spell doom for the nation. Dakuku vowed that in the cause of seeking for justice as a citizen of the country he “will never patronize criminals.”
Speaking with journalists at the weekend in Sabongida Ora, in Owan West council are of Edo state at the reception organized by the Ora-Ekpen Development AssocWiation (ODA), in honour of the new Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, the APC chieftain said, “We will continue to rely on the police, we rather ask for reforms, we rather ask that they re-strategize; they be better equipped to do their work because the alternative is disaster for us.” “Police did their own best as it were then to provide us security coverage.
There are areas where they failed too; there were even areas where they were accessory to crime and accessory to some of the things that happened but on the whole what is the alternative to police. The alternative is self help and that self help simply means patronizing criminals and I will never patronize criminals.” On the move by the administration of Presidency to probe NNPC and other key sectors, Dakuku, stated that probity and accountability were fundamental ingredients of democracy, saying, “One thing you need to know about probity, accountability and transparency is that it is a continuous process.
