‘Move Boko Haram detainees to maximum security prison’

‘Move Boko Haram detainees to maximum security prison’
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has urged the Federal Government to move the Boko Haram detainees out of Ekwulobia to a maximum security prison.
NAN’s Public Relations Officer, Nwankwo Ezekiel, in a statement in Abuja, said the presence of the detainees constituted a big security threat to the state.
The statement noted that the Ekwulobia Prison did not have the capacity to accommodate such high risk prisoners, adding that a prison built to accommodate only 85 inmates was currently housing 134 prisoners.
“We urge the Federal Government to rescind the decision in view of its security implications on the people of Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government and the state at large. Nothing justifies the relocation of the suspects to Ekwulobia against the wishes of the peace loving people of Anambra State,” the statement stated.
