A group known as South East professional Forum (SEPF), an umbrella body of Igbo young professionals has urged President Muhammadu Buhari not to discriminate against the Igbos in the appointment of key government officials in his administration, adding that the Igbos were solidly behind his government irrespective of political leaning.
In a statement signed by its national chairman, Enginer Kenneth Iwueke and secretary, Austine Valentine Ezeugo respectively and released at the weekend in Abuja, the group said it will be counter productive to exclude the entire South East geo-political zone from the decision making body of this administration.
The group stated that it was evidently clear based on the political equation and appointments made so far that the Igbos are yet to be included in the decision making body of Muhammadu Buhari administration.
While calling on the president to be inclusive in his appointments, the group specifically urged him to appoint a credible person into the office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation from the South East geo- political zone, adding that such appointment will give the Igbos extraction a sense of belonging as well as satisfy the constitutional principle of Federal Character.
The professionals, who claimed that they were not averse to the nomination of Dr Ogbonaya Onu by the leadership of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo as candidate for the Secretary to Government of the Federation, said Onu’s aspiration will add value to the party and Buhari’s administration.
