No fewer than 26 athletes have been listed in the provisional list by the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), ahead of the All Africa Games (AAG), reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
The Games are scheduled for September 4 to 19 in Congo Brazzaville.
Omatseye Nesiama, the Technical Director of AFN, told NAN that the names for the 100m and 200m women are: Igbinosun Isoken, Nkem Ezealah and Peace Uko, while the men are, Nicholas Imhoaperamhe, Divine Oduduru, and Olisakwe Chukwudi.
According to him, the list for the 400m women are: Oluwatosin Adeloye, Vivian Ossai and Funke Oladoye, while the men are, Nathaniel Samson, Orukpe Erayokan and Norah Akwu.
“Daisy Akpofa and Afolake Junaid are for the 400m Hurdles women.
“Javelin women is Kelechi Nwanaga, while the men’s event has Adams Kure.
“Long Jump women are Ese Brume and Euphemia Eden, while for the men’s long jump is Thaddeus Opara.
“Claire Uke is for the women’s Shot Put, Precious Ogunlewe is for the women’s Hammer, while Blessing Ibrahim is for the women’s Triple Jump event.
“Queen Henshaw and Faustina Oguh are for the women’s 20km Walk race, while Bamidele Elegbede and Adeyemi Kazeem are for the men’s 20km Walk race.’’
Nesiama said the final list would be announced after the Confederation of Africa Athletics Grand Prix scheduled for July 24 in Warri, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
