Alleged fraud: ICPC grills ex-IGP, Okiro

Operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC), Thursday, grilled the Chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC), Sir Mike Okiro at the anti-corruption commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Okiro, a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), was interrogated for many hours, based on a petition bordering on alleged fraud.
The former IGP was driven to the headquarters of ICPC at about 10: 00am, in Black Toyota Landcruiser marked T 98 01 FG (PSC).
He was accompanied to the headquarters of ICPC by the PSC’s Chief Accountant, Mr. Bisala A. A., Ibeh E. C, and his orderly, one George Todonu.
Okiro was invited for questioning on a petition by the Commission’s Principal Administrative Officer, Mr. Aaron Kaase, alleging that the former cornered a whopping N350 million purportedly released to the commission, to train staff that would be deployed to monitor police personnel during the last General elections.
He was, however, granted administrative bail.
Part of the petition had alleged that: “As a  build up to the 2015 General Elections, the Police Service
Commission relying on  provisions of its establishment Act, (allegedly) sought for
and (allegedly) obtained the sum of N350,000,000.00  from the National Security Adviser (NSA) purportedly to train her staff in Monitoring the conduct of the Nigeria Police in the concluded General Elections…”
Though, the spokesman of the ICPC, Mr. Folu Olamiti, could not be reached for an official comment, the Head of the Press Unit of PSC, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani,in a telephone conversation, confirmed the development, saying: “There was a petition against the Chairman (of PSC), which was sent to ICPC, and in reaction to that the Commission wrote the ICPC, to come and look at its account.
“So, if the chairman was at ICPC today, it should be in respect of that. I think he was a guest of ICPC.
