Ministerial nominees: APC’s S’East caucus meets to appraise list
The South East Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday night met in Abuja to appraise the ministerial nominees of each state. The South East geopolitical zone is made up of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi.
According to a source at the meeting, of the five states, only two states were able to submit the lists of ministerial nominees. The states that submitted were Anambra and Imo, while Abia, Enugu and Ebonyi were yet to submit.
The meeting, which was chaired by the leader of South East All Progressives Congress, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu had in attendance the governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, Senator Chris Ngige, APC National Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso, APC National Auditor, Chief George Moghalu, South East APC Spokesperson, Osita Okechukwu and some others.
Issues discussed at the meeting according to the source is who gets what and how the zone would have a harmonised ministerial list. Also, the issue of those who did not work for the party in the zone but masquerading as technocrats and looking for ministerial slots was looked into.
On the issue of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the source stated that the caucus has not been able to agree on one person as the three names are still being maintained. The names for the SGF are: Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Chris Ngige and the Imo State SSG, Prof. Anwuka.
He said: “The SGF issue is still on stalemate with Onu taking the lead, followed by Ngige and Prof.  Anwuka”.
On the states that have submitted their lists and probably the names submitted, the source stated: “l don’t know the names submitted but l am just telling you that three states have not been able to reconcile their lists”.
Asked if the caucus took cognisance of the fact that the President, Muhammadu Buhari had said he would not accept ministerial lists from states, he stated that it was the need the caucus is pushing for it from zone.
It was agreed that the meeting will, however, continue for them to resolve all the grey areas before presenting list to the President.
