He said one of the lessons he personally had learnt from the last general elections in the country is not to take people for granted, stressing that his administration will take people of the state along in the journey to make the state better than he met it.
According to him, “as we collectively face the challenge of moving Lagos forward and as I run an open government of inclusion that will not leave anyone behind without minding your age, sex or affiliation we promise we will not leave anyone behind so far you live in Lagos we will all work together,” he said.
He also advised the youths to be focus and desist from cutting corners, noting that the youths can take a clue from him who is from humble background and now the governor of Lagos state.
“To our youths there is no short cut to success, you can learn from my story, you must not let you background deter you from where you want to be, this is Nigeria where merit and perseverance pay.
Speaking further, Ambode called on everyone to work together with him to move the state forward, adding that his administration will reward merit and hard work in the state.
He also assured all tax payers that the taxes they paid will be duly used progressively.
“We shall practice a government by incentive and not by force, I therefore invite you all to join hands with me to take care of the poor people in our midst, this is a compassionate government,” he added.
