PDP governors express worry over rising insurgency

PDP governors express worry over rising insurgency
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has expressed worry over the rising cases of insurgency in the North East geopolitical zone.
The governors, who met last night, enjoined the armed forces and other security agencies to step up measures to see how they can stem the tide.
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, who addressed the press after the meeting, expressed the belief that if the security agencies step up a little effort they would be able to curtail the insurgency.
“It is really a thing of concern to PDP government that in spite of all the efforts in the Armed Forces these guys are still proving to be more formidable.
‎”We received another report of another attack. These are things we believe we all rise up as a country, we should be able to curtail it,” the governor added.
Governor Emmanuel was, however, silent on the position of the forum concerning the deputy chairmanship of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, who is a PDP member, was said to have been tipped to occupy the position.
‎But some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were reported to have kicked against the choice of Fayose as NGF deputy chairman.
The NGF usually chose its chairman ‎from the ruling party and deputy from the opposition.
The Forum had chosen Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Yari as chairman.
The PDP Governors’ Forum meeting was to take a position on Fayose’s candidacy.‎
Incidentally, Fayose was absent at the meeting. He was said to have travelled out of the country.
Nine PDP governors and one deputy were present at the meeting.
