Oyegun: Buhari’s interference resolved APC crisis

Oyegun: Buhari’s interference resolved APC crisis
  •  Says four years too short to probe 16 years corruption

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun Wednesday explained how the lingered crisis of the  House of Representatives was resolved. According to Oyegun, it was the marching order of the President, Muhammadu Buhari that resolved the crisis.
The APC national chairman, who spoke with correspondents Wednesday, stated that the President did not intervene but gave order that the crisis must be resolved within 24 hours.
According to the National Chairman: “The misunderstanding in the House has been resolved. Thanks to the President who said no alternative but for everybody to listen to the party. He still did not interfere. His parting word was that the party and the leadership of the House should go and resolve their problem.
“I promised that within a few hours that the nation would be glad and the issue would have been resolved. I want to pay tribute to the maturity of the members of the House and to the party and the general public. It did not take long for the necessary concessions to be made.
“One can say that presidential prestige came to play and that counted a lot. I don’t want to elaborate and he emphasised and that the party is number one and that everyone owes everything to the party.”
The party chairman, who explained why President Buhari is limiting his probe to the Jonathan’s administration, said that four years may not be enough to probe the 16 years of misrule and corrupt government  of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He stated that what was of a concern was that the level of corruption in the last administration was unprecedented. He said the impunity of the last administration was phenomenal. “The damage done by the last administration was massive.”
On the allegation that the party is responsibly for the questioning of Saraki’s wife by the EFCC, he denied that the party was involved in the travails of the senate president and his wife.
“I want to assure you without doubting that the APC absolutely has nothing to do with this, She is not on trial by the way. It is an investigation that has to do with the Senate President’s wife.
“You saw all the speculation in the media, as a matter of fact this could have been triggered by the opposition party itself, the PDP has its branch in Kwara.
“They have to be nudged to make a denounce that they were not the originators of the petition or whatever triggered this investigation.
“We are completely, totally, absolutely, innocent of it, what we have not done like in the PDP days is to rush and say and interfere with the processes of the EFCC which our president has made quite clearly, everybody should be ready to carry out their legitimate functions without interference.
“The EFCC is doing what it thinks it has to do,” he stated.
On if the National Assembly would not work against the Change Agenda, the National Chairman stated that no sane person would would work against creation of job, provision of power, construction of roads and provision of other infrastructures.
Oyegun stated that it is an agenda that every member of APC must embraced.
He also spoke on the ministerial appointment, stating that the party would make input but that the President has the last position on it.
