Akwa Ibom begins communities’ development


Following the menace of flood in some areas of Akwa ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel, yesterday visited one of the affected communities, Oron Local Government Area yesterday for a firsthand assessment of the impact of the erosion, which damaged some roads and created gully erosion in the area.
Moved by the deplorable condition of the area, the governor instructed that work should commence immediately to salvage the situation the residents of the area have been facing for the past 30 years.
Similarly, The government has said that plans were in advanced stages for the inauguration of the construction of a straight dual carriage way from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital to Oron Beach.
The state Commissioner for Works Mr. Ephraim Inyang, revealed this yesterday while addressing newsmen during a detailed inspection of the marked areas prepared for the construction in oron.
Inyang said the government of Governor Emmanuel was working round the clock to provide a road of top quality that will ease vehicular and human movements from the boundaries of the state to the capital.
He assured of government’s readiness to deliver life touching projects and provide critical infrastructure for the people of Akwa Ibom State, noting that the road from Uyo to Oron, was of great economic importance to the people of the state and deserved prior attention.
