The Director General, National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Alhassan Yakmut has urged Nigeria’s athletes participating in the 11th All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville, tagged Brazzaville 2015 to be focused on winning lots of medals as Nigerians are solidly behind them.
Yakmut made this appeal while addressing Coaches and Secretaries of Federations at the Olympic Games Village in Brazzaville.
He also added that this edition of the Games will be eventful because some athletes of the maiden edition would be honoured by the President of Congo Brazzaville.
The Director General stated that the success and failure of Nigeria in this “battleground” is dependent on their performance, adding that everything has been made available to them to ensure that they defeat other participating teams.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian female volleyball team on Friday defeated their Mozambique opponents 3-0 in the opening stages of the ongoing All African Games in Brazzaville, Congo, while the Nigerian female badminton team defeated their Botswana opponents 5-0.

Speaking after the end of the first successful group game that ended in favour of Nigeria, an enthusiastic and elated coach of the female volleyball team, Ajayi Samuel, said the game was okay and almost a walkover for his team, as they have prepared adequately for the competition before coming to Congo.
