Report: Boko Haram strengthens ties with Islamic State militants

The last may not have been heard of the pledge of allegiance made to the Islamic State (IS) by Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau some months ago, as the sect is said to be strengthening its ties with the deadly terror group.
A report by The Associated Press (AP), which quoted a Nigeria analyst, Jacob Zenn, in ‘The Sentinel’ magazine of the Washington-based Jamestown Foundation, said: “An estimated 80 to 200 Boko Haram fighters are in the Libyan city of Sirte.”
The report also noted that Boko Haram members were currently fighting in Libya.
It further quoted Zenn as saying that:
“Algerian security forces believe Boko Haram fighters have joined other militants in northern Niger.”
“The openness of migration routes from Nigeria through eastern Niger to Libya makes travel … fairly straightforward, and the Islamic State can easily afford to pay smugglers to carry militants (and weapons) along that route.”
Neighbouring states of Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon are pooling military resources together, through a multi-national task force, to battle the militant group.
