FCMB stops accepting Mainstreet Bank cheques Aug 28

FCMB stops accepting Mainstreet Bank cheques Aug 28
First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has announced that it will stop accepting Mainstreet Bank cheques from the 28th of August. In emails it sent to its customers, the lender stated that this was due to the merger between Mainstreet Bank and Skye Bank, advising customers with such cheques to pay into any of its branches before the 28th of this month.
According to the email, “Following the recent merger between Mainstreet Bank and Skye Bank, please be advised that effective Friday 28 August, 2015, all Mainsteet Bank Cheques or instructions will no longer be accepted for clearing at FCMB branches.
This means that if you have any Mainstreet Bank cheque in your possession, kindly pay into any FCMB Branch for clearing before Friday August 28, 2015.”
It will be recalled that Skye Bank acquired Mainstreet Bank Limited last year after the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) stripped its interest and reassigned full ownership of the bank to it.
