  • Sodje tasks coach on discipline

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has contacted some of his senior players including captain Vincent Enyeama and Mikel Obi to discuss his policy thrust. According to a source in the team, the coach is trying to sell his programme to his players and to harp on the importance of discipline.
The source who is an official of the team said that Oliseh spoke with his captain and explained his plans and the direction he wanted to go. “The coach has started work already. I can tell you he spoke with Enyeama and Mikel being some of the senior players in the squad on his plans and the need to galvanise the players for cooperation. He will surely and officially speak with the rest of them when they regroup for the next assignment but he feels getting the attention of the senior players is also critical as he plans for his first assignment as Eagles coach,” the source said. Meanwhile, ex-international, Sam Sodje, has advised Oliseh to emphasise discipline in the team. The former Reading of England player said that the Nigeria Football Federation took a positive decision with the employment of the former Juventus player.
He said that he had no doubt in the ability of the new Eagles handler to deliver on his mandate and that he expects the tactician to bring into the team some freshness it desperately needs. He said that being a disciplined player, Oliseh should bring into the team similar businesslike mentality he exhibited in his active days.
“The NFF is spot on with Oliseh’s appointment. He is the right man for the job. He understands the game being a successful former player himself and he will bring a lot of positive things into the team that will lead the Eagles to success. “Discipline is key. I don’t think the players are not disciplined and I am sure the new coach will continue to maintain discipline in the team because it is important for the team to succeed,” Sodje said.
