A former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, has tipped the Flying Eagles of Nigeria to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand. Speaking with New Telegraph on the telephone, Adepoju said the team had been consistent in their performance, a hallmark of a champion. “They have shown that they have what it takes to win the tournament,” the Kwara Football Academy administrator said.
“This is a trophy that has eluded us for a very long time and I believe this team can win it in New Zealand. “Since the qualifiers, they have been consistent and we should not forget that the players have been together for a very long time as a team.” He however advised the players not to be complacent as all eyes would be on them because of their exploit since their days at the U-17.
Adepoju, a former junior international and a member of the team that got to the final of the U-20 tournament in 1989, implored Nigerians to support the team with their prayers.
