Six suspected armed robbers, who were recently arrested by men of the Enugu State Police Command, have pleaded for forgiveness.
The suspects, also said to be members of a secret cult, were identified as Monday Ojah, Chibuike Duhu, Onyeka Abuchi Nweke, Ibe Ifeanyichukwu, Malachy Ugo and Chinonso Eze.
It was gathered that the suspects had been operating in the Uwani area of Enugu and its environs.
It was further gathered that their arrest, by men of the Uwani police division, followed information provided by residents of the area.
The suspects were nabbed as they were returning from an initiation ceremony.
Spokesman of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the development, said the suspects confessed to their involvement in armed robbery and cultism.
Amaraizu said the suspects stated that they were members of the JVC Confraternity and that they robbed their victims at gunpoint.
He added that on the day of their arrest, the suspects engaged in armed robbery while returning from the initiation ceremony.
However, he said the suspects were pleading for forgiveness, promising to change their ways if free.
