NDLEA arrests cocaine dealer, five others in Gombe

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Gombe State has re-arrested a 29-year-old woman, Yabi Ibrahim, with 5.3 grammes of cocaine and heroine, and five other drug traffickers.

Mr Aliyu Adole, State’s commandant NDLEA, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday that the command re-arrested Ibrahim of Karofin Bolari quarters, Gombe, after she was released on bail by the Federal High Court, Gombe.

“This woman was released on bail and she came out and started selling cocaine again, her mother is still in prison awaiting trial.

“The Federal High Court, Gombe, does not have a sitting judge and this is affecting us, because all our cases are pending, which is not too comfortable.

“All our cases are awaiting trials in various courts, we have like 32 awaiting trial suspects in prison,” he said.

He called on the authority to facilitate appointment of a resident Judge to be able to continue with such cases in the state.

Adole said with the present situation, the command was facing a lot of challenges in discharging its duties.

The commandant said the other five suspects were arrested within a week with 8.9 kilogrammes of cannabis and psychotropic substances.

He said only the High Court has jurisdiction to handle their matters.
