The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has passed a resolution naming the state’s International Stadium popularly known as the ‘Nest of Champion’ after the immediate past Governor of the state, Chief Godswill Akpabio.
The Speaker of the House, Honourable Sam Ikon, stated this yesterday when members of the state House of Assembly paid Chief Godswill Akpabio a courtesy visit at the Governor’s Lodge, Uyo.
Ikon said this was done as a mark of honour to the former governor for the execution and inauguration of the stadium within a record time.
He noted that the visit to Akpabio was aimed at expressing their appreciation for what the former governor had done for the state particularly in partnering the House during his administration, adding that, Chief Akpabio loves the people, which was why he transformed the state through infrastructural development and this was the reason they decided to name the stadium after him.
The Speaker remarked that all constituencies of the state have been positively impacted with life-touching projects during Akpabio’s administration.
