What Happened To Jonathan And Facebook Cordial Friendship?

A careful perusal has shown that for weeks now, President Goodluck Jonathan has stopped posting messages on his Facebook page.

This comes in contrast of what it used to be before the electioneering period when we had a very active president on the biggest social media platform, Facebook.

Jonathan had been very active on Facebook before he lost his re-election bid on March 28 to president-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari.

He had used the platform to seek the votes of thousands of his friends.

As a matter of fact at 7.53pm on March 29, Jonathan went on Facebook to urge all Nigerians to wait patiently for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to collate and announce results, asking them to also shun acts capable of breaching the nation’s peaceful coexistence.

At exactly 9.29am on April 1 after INEC announced retd. General Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jonathan, on his Facebook page, thanked all Nigerians for giving him the opportunity to lead the nation. He had also asked PDP leaders and members to be celebrating his defeat rather than mourning.

Also at 5.07pm on April 4, Easter Day, the president charged Nigerians to accept that the presidential elections were over and that they must reconcile their differences “as children born from the womb of one mother, Nigeria.”

Jonathan’s last post on Facebook was at 2.18pm on April 10 when he called on all registered voters to come out en masse and exercise their right to vote in the April 11 gubernatorial elections.

Today marks it day 17 without a word from the president on Facebook, now the question is; What Happened To Jonathan And Facebook Cordial Friendship?
