We’re Ready For Assembly Poll — Ekiti INEC

The Ekiti State Independent National Electoral Commission has expressed its readiness for April 11 House of Assembly election in the state.

The commission’s spokesperson, Mr. Taiwo Gbadegesin, who made the disclosure during a television interview monitored by our correspondent in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday, also appealed to the voters to ensure peace.
He said, ‘’we are prepared for Saturday’s election. We also want to urge voters to maintain the kind of peaceful attitude they showed during the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state. They should come out to vote and be orderly. They have been in the forefront of quality leadership and we want them to continue the trend.’’
Gbadegesin urged the gladiators of the two major political parties in the state to be tolerant of one another, saying the peaceful conduct of last election should be repeated on Saturday.
According to the INEC spokesperson, the suspended curfew helped to douse the tension that might have arisen in the state after the outcome of the presidential election.
He stated, ‘’The curfew was a divine intervention to arrest any perceived violence. There is peace in Ekiti State and we want it to continue. Ekiti INEC will also continue to uphold the tenets of integrity because it is important to us. We will not disappoint before, during or after the conduct of Saturday’s election.”
