Tyga Takes Romance To Streets

Gone are the days when romance was an indoor thing. Tyga, 26-year-old American rapper, has shown that love and romance could be better expressed outdoors. He was seen last Thursday taking a cruise with his partner, Kylie Jenner, in a $25,000 (N5m) three-wheel motorcycle in the streets of California.Kylie Jenner, 18, is an American reality television, social media personality, socialite, model and singer-songwriter. She is known for appearing on the E! reality TV series, ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians.’

While on the ‘street romance’ with Tyga, the youngest sibling of Kim Kardashian framed her flawless complexion with her trademark-raven coloured hair extensions and covered her eyes with oversized sunglasses.

The pair have only been seen out a few times since Tyga confirmed their romance last month, but proved that they are easy riders as they were pictured out in his Polaris Slingshot three-wheel motorcycle that afternoon.

The duo were instantly recognisable as they zoomed through Woodland Hills, California, in the unique vehicle without helmets.

The machine is said to be able to go from zero to 60 miles per hour in about five seconds and has a 2.4 litre four-cylinder which puts out 173 horse power.

Wearing a black top which had ‘WEALTH’ emblazoned on the back, the 18-year-old was seen talking on her mobile phone while Tyga was in control of the wheel.

The rapper was dressed in a grey tank top and red shorts while he completed his look with a black baseball cap.

Kylie was first linked to Tyga in October 2014 – and that’s when they presumably began turning their platonic friendship into a romance.

Tyga’s rise to stardom

Tyga coined his stage name from ‘Thank You God Always,’ though he was christened Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson when he was born on November 19, 1989. Of Vietnamese and Jamaican descents, he grew up listening to artistes like Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Cam’ron and Eminem among others.

In 2011, he signed a recording contract with Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Republic Record and first received recognition with his debut single, ‘Coconut Juice,’ featuring Travie McCoy. His major-label debut, ‘Careless World: Rise of the Last King,’ includes the singles: ‘Rack City,’ ‘Faded,’ featuring fellow Young Money artist, Lil Wayne, ‘Far Away,’ featuring Chris Richardson, ‘Still Got It,’ featuring Drake, and ‘Make It Nasty.’

He released his third album, ‘Hotel California,’ on April 9, 2013, which includes the singles ‘Dope’ featuring Rick Ross, ‘For the Road’ featuring Chris Brown, and ‘Show You’ featuring Future. He then released a few singles from his upcoming album, ‘The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty’ such as ‘Wait for a Minute’, ‘40 Mill,’ ‘Real Deal,’ ‘Hookah,’ and ‘Make It Work.’

Controversial Tyga

A debate arose on December 3, 2012 concerning Tyga’s upbringing. He once claimed to have been brought up in the low socio-economic area of Compton, California, but on the television show ‘Bustas’ in 2008, he claimed he grew up in a “well-to-do” home in the Valley, where his parents drove a Range Rover. He made it hard for many people to know his background.

On September 4, 2013, it was reported that he had been sued by a Beverly Hills-based jeweller for allegedly not paying for roughly $91,000 (N18.2m) worth of jewellery. The jeweller claimed that Tyga agreed to pay $28,275 (N5.7m) for the diamond pantheon watch in August 2012 and that he borrowed a $63,000 (N12.6m) diamond Cuban link chain in December 2012 and never returned the item. The jeweller sued Tyga for the cost of both pieces, plus late fees, which totalled up to $185,306.50 (N37.1m) in damages, double the original total cost.

Also, Tyga has been embroiled in some real estate drama as of late. According to celebrity gossip site, TMZ.com, a Malibu landlord sued Tyga, claiming the rapper bounced on his $16,000 (N3.2m) per month rent while still living in the home. Tyga’s manager denied the claim and stated that he gave proper notice before moving.

Amid claims that he owed thousands of dollars in back taxes, the rapper recently showed off his extravagant rose gold-treated Mercedes-Benz. This kept many people wondering: “You’re owing thousands of dollars in taxes, yet you go buy such a luxurious supercar!”

He’s got a luxury taste

Tyga is reportedly worth $8m (N1.6bn) – the bulk of his wealth comes from sponsorships, ads, endorsements, featuring and so on. His estimated yearly income is around $941,176 (N188m), while he gets about $209,150 (N41.8m) from sponsorship and endorsement deals.

The Young Money rapper recently snagged a $6.5m (N1.3bn) mansion with seven bedrooms, eight baths, a movie theatre, pool, spa, waterfall, sports court, and gym. What more is needed in a home to make it comfortable?

The swanky mansion takes up over 9,200 square feet in Calabasas, California. The stunning home also includes a gold-leaf entry dome, four fireplaces, multi-station camera security system, and an in-ground trampoline.

The 26-year-old has a lot to look forward to in his new home, including celebrity neighbours – Travis Barker and Justin Bieber, who purchased a 10,000-square foot property in the same gated community. His Young Money label mate, Drake, also has a plush pad nearby.

He was spotted recently as he stepped out of a rose gold-plated customised Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG and idled on the sidewalk spotting a gold coloured baseball cap and loose-fitting T-shirt revealing the numerous tattoos decorating his arms.

The rapper is believed to have paid for the rose gold wrap as an early Christmas present to himself, just weeks after giving his Lamborghini Aventador Roadster a similar treatment.

Away from music, the rapper has ventured into retail with the launch of a new Los Angeles-based clothing store, Last Kings – a move that reportedly saw him spent thousands of dollars on decorative ornament for the shop – amongst them a $20,000 (N4m) Egyptian Tomb.

The lavish object came with sand that Tyga reportedly paid to have transported from Cairo to the store’s LA address – despite it being situated ten miles from the nearest beach.
