Former Minister of State for Defence and Current Minister of State II, Foreign Affairs, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has responded to the rude and outrageous replies of the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, to his call that Amaechi and his cohorts congratulate Governor-elect, Nyesom Wike, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the good of Rivers state.
“I congratulated Ambode based on the larger interest of Lagos State. Amaechi and his co-travelers in Rivers State should learn from this,” he said.

Post Nigeria had earlier reported that Obanikoro had on Monday said that his congratulatory message to the Governor-elect of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, was in the interests of peace adding that it should not be mistaken that he considered the election in the state as free and fair.
He pointed out that international observers confirmed that in comparison to the March 28 presidential elections, the April 11 gubernatorial elections had a lower turnout in Lagos, yet the total number of votes cast in the latter outnumbered the former.
Amaechi, in a reply that some people have said is unbefitting of a governor, had emphasized that he has no plans of accepting the electoral victory of Wike, stressing that the election was more or less daylight robbery.
He alleged that the election was a sham and used reports from international observers, some of which Post Nigeria has already proven to be biased (Read here), to emphasize his point.
He went as far as insulting the Honorable Minister of State II for Foreign Affairs, saying, “Please read the reports of European Union, EU, and other Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, accredited election observers before you open your mouth to spew rubbish. If your values are so debased and rotten that you saw nothing wrong with the elections in Rivers State, mine is not. Never will.”
Obanikoro, being polite as ever, didn’t bother to begin trading insults with the Governor but simply took to his twitter page once again to clarify his position.
He pointed out how credible the so called reports were if they could be blind to the electoral irregularities that happened in North, like the underage voters and others.
