The naira has maintained its appreciation against the US dollar following it’s ‘surprise comeback’ last week after the presidential polls result, Daily Trust reports.
In Abuja yesterday dealers at the black market exchanged the naira to a dollar at between N170 and N180 while their Lagos counterparts exchanged it at between N190 and N200 to a dollar.
The naira went down to N228 against the dollar before last week, but rose to 210 on Friday.
At the interbank market, it traded at N198 band as at Friday.
Experts say the peaceful outcome of the presidential election and the confidence Nigerians and foreign investor have in President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari's ability to fight corruption and economic leakages caused the boost investor in the economy, which rubbed off on naira.
