The Lagos state commissioner for transportation, Kayode Opeifa, has been attacked by gunmen believed to be thugs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The gunmen who were on rampage in Agege first attacked Agege Local Government where council staff were holding a vigil ahead of the presidential election then went on to attack the Independent National Electoral Commission’s office in Agege.

The gunmen who were riding in a grey bus then proceeded to Opeifa’s home in Agege, shooting sporadically at his house and the cars around his house, PM News reports.
A correspondent who was at the scene of the attacks gathered that the thugs wielding dangerous weapons stormed the INEC office at about 11.40pm and attacked some INEC officials.

The rampaging team after leaving the INEC office reportedly branched out at a nearby secretariat of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area and chased and attacked staff who had stayed overnight to cast their votes on Saturday because some of them registered at the secretariat.
The team moved to the secretariat of Agege Local Government and attacked staff of the council.
Several cars and other properties worth millions of naira were reportedly destroyed while one person was feared dead in the shootings at Agege secretariat while many staff were injured, the correspondent confirmed.
Unconfirmed reports claim that the group of gunmen were led by Oyeniyi Raheem, a House of Representatives candidate contesting on the platform of the PDP.
Meanwhile, Pulse Nigeria announced that an INEC source confirmed the attack while another official posted on his Facebook account what transpired.
“They first of all attacked the residence of the commissioner, which is opposite the school and vandalised one of his vehicles parked outside his compound. Then they moved to the secretariat of Agege local government and destroyed properties in the staff quarters before attacking the INEC office, which shares a fence with the secretariat but I can’t say if they succeeded in carting away electoral materials,” an INEC staff said.
“Alhaji Niyi Raheem has started again at INEC office in Agege, his boys have stabbed one of us on the head and dragged the EO (electoral officer) on the floor. I am very afraid because I have been posted to supervise his ward 9. Right now, I am hiding under the table. They are now inside the office where we have been arranging ballot papers and other materials. They have switched off the generator,”another INEC staff member reportedly said via Facebook.
Recently, PDP thugs attacked a convoy carrying Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers state in Port Harcourt though those claims have been denied by the Rivers state police command.
