Hoodlums Said To Be Suspected OPC Members Take Over Oshodi

We just got report of violence and rioting at Oshodi area of Lagos. Police and soldiers have since calmed the situation.

Earlier thugs were spotted using guns, axes, machetes and other dangerous weapons have taken over some busy areas of Oshodi earlier today.



As early as 6am, they had established their presence at Charity Bus Stop. They had hoods over their heads and attacked those heading to work.

Chaos reigned as drivers quickly discharged their passengers and fled in horror, with some running into themselves as shop owners quickly shut down.

Earlier reports, said they moved further inwards Oshodi, shooting sporadically and attacking people.

The cause of the fight is yet to be ascertained as at press time. So also was the identity of the hoodlums or group they belong to yet to be established at at press time.

Some however claimed they are members of the Oodua Peoples Congress, a claim a top member of the group disproved.

Shop owners and residents said they believed the attack was to prepare the ground for a rally of a group in the area. Some shop owners said they had been told some days back not to open as there would be a rally they must attend.

Policemen, acting on a tip-off that there would be violence on today had arrested some suspected hoodlums in the area.

Those arrested were reportedly picked up close to the international airport in Mafoluku area.

Surulere was also tensed up yesterday as Hoodlums, also using machetes, guns and other dangerous weapons had a free reign for the better part of the day, which led to traffic congestion in the area.

UPDATE

We just received reports that the fighting has extended to Maryland and Constain and its being lead by one Essy oluwo, Emijo, Skul boy gbolahan, Okanla and Oosha.
