Hamstring Injury Rules Out Jordi Alba For Two Weeks

Spain international, Jordi Alba has been ruled out of action for about 2 weeks following the La Roja's 1-0 win over Ukraine on Friday.

Alba, who joined Barcelona from Valencia after the Del Bosque's men won the world cup in South Africa was substituted with 11 minutes remaining in the game with a suspected hamstring injury and promptly returned to the club to determine the extent of the injury.

His recent injury means that he will not be a part of Luis Enrique's squad that will travel to Celta Viga after advance examinations confirmed that he has sustained a grade one injury to his right hamstring.

"Tests performed by the FC Barcelona Medical Services on Saturday morning has revealed that Jordi Alba has a grade one injury to the adductor muscle in his right leg," a club statement read.

"This hamstring injury means he’ll be out of action for approximately ten days. It happened while playing for Spain on Friday evening against Ukraine in a Euro 2016 qualifier.

"He was substituted after feeling pain during a run down the left wing."

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque had confirmed after the match that Alba would miss Tuesday's clash with Netherlands in Amsterdam. Goal
