Fan shot during club appearance sue Chris Brown

Chris Brown is being sued by a man who was shot at a party that the singer hosted in January. Paul Briley was one of five people struck at the Fiesta Nightclub in San Jose, Calif. during the “Chris Brown Capricorn Bash,” and filed suit against Breezy, and the venue, for “negligence and carelessness.”

Briley, 22, argues that the club should have had proper security measures in place, such as metal detectors, and searching “bags and/or guns,” due to similar incidents at events hosted by Brown.

“My father told me that when his father died, his mother told him she and her husband had not been speaking for 10 years, even though they lived in the same house… staying together because of the children. My grandfather was a reverend, so divorce was not an option. Not like Chris Oyakhilome, or Chris Okotie that divorced, they swore an oath to God, and still broke the oath.”

“There are doctors and scientists who believe that marijuana should be legalized. There are also lawyers, judges, and politicians who believe that the war on drugs is a false war. That is actually a war on the poor people all over the world, because poor people and rich people use drugs to be sane. But you will find that here, people are in jail more for drug use.”

Going further, he said, “We as Africans had no reason to ban marijuana. It was done out of the U.S. lobby, forcing our governments to ban the drug. I don’t think that the Nigerian government has ever carried out any independent research on marijuana. One of the biggest markets in the world for marijuana in the world is Israel (which is a more religious country than Nigeria). But they understand the benefits… especially the economic benefits. So much wealth can be generated from it, but that is another issue entirely.”

Kanye West sets to run for President in 2020

Rap icon, Kanye West received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at tonight's MTV Video Music Awards, and he closed his acceptance speech by announcing he's running for president in 2020.

The segment started with a bang when West was handed his Moonman by an unexpected contemporary: reigning pop queen / one-time Kanye "victim" Taylor Swift. After a narrated montage containing clips from every part of West's career, Swift came up on stage and talked about her West fandom and his influence on her career. She wrapped her speech by quoting West's infamous 2009 VMA interruption you know, the one where he rushed the stage and grabbed the mic from Swift to defend Beyoncé's work to proclaim that he's had "one of the greatest careers of all time."West then spoke at length about being changed by fatherhood, defending artistry, the hypocrisy of media, the ridiculousness of award shows, and smoking a little something before getting up on stage "to take the edge off." Yes, really! (Just one of many choice quotes: "I will die for the art, and for what I believe in — and the art ain't always gonna be polite!") He didn't perform any music, a major break from recent Video Vanguard recipients Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake both performed lengthy, career-spanning medleys when they won in 2014 and 2013, respectively but his speech definitely constituted a special, idiosyncratic sort of performance.

And hey, who knows in five years, West could be taking that signature intensity and boldness all the way to the White House. (Bring on First Lady Kim Kardashian West!)

Kanye West apologizes for being disrespectful to Taylor Swift at VMAs

Kanye West was honored in a big way during Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards by receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, an accolade previously awarded to superstars like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Madonna and The Beatles throughout the show's more than 20-year tenure.

He accepted the prestigious award but not without a 13minute acceptance speech that blew any previous Kanye moments way out of the water.

Prior to Yeezy taking the stage, Taylor Swift talked about the infamous 2009 VMAs Best Female Video debacle that pinned the two hit makers against each other for years to follow.

Taylor said any feud between the two was laid to rest long ago, admitting that Kanye's 2004 CollegeDropout was the first album she bought on iTunes.

"I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish but Kanye has had one of the greatest careers of all time," Swift playfully joked as the honoree prepared to deliver his speech.

As the crowd chanted his name, West looked visibly overwhelmed before recanting his numerous regrets surrounding the career-polarizing move.

"If I had to do it all over again, what would I have done? Would I have worn a leather shirt? Would I have drank half a bottle of Hennessy and gave the rest of it to the audience...? If I had a daughter at that time would I have gone on stage and grabbed the mic from someone else's?" he asked.

West also acknowledged the backlash he has felt throughout his outspoken career: "The contradiction is, I do fight for artists, but in that fight I somehow was disrespectful to artists. I didn't know how to say the right thing, the perfect thing," adding, "Sometimes I feel like I died for the artists' opinion, for the artist to be able to have an opinion after they were successful."

Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj put any possible feud rumors to an official rest Sunday night when they performed together as the opening act of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

As the rapper was singing "The Night Is Still Young," Swift appeared in a sparkling red dress where she joined in on the No. 1 single. Soon after, Minaj began collaborating with the blond beauty for her hit track "Bad Blood."

"That was so much fun," Swift shared with E! News exclusively moments after the performance. "I was dying because I didn't know she was going to drop it. We rehearsed seven times and she never dropped it. I was dying laughing."

Kanye West to receive Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at VMAs

As this year’s edition of MTV award inches close, organizers have revealed that American singer, Kanye West will be honoured with the Video Music Award (VMA)’s highest honour, the “Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award,” for his career-spanning groundbreaking videos, legendary VMA performances, and continued impact on music, art, fashion, and culture.

The award will be presented during the live broadcast of the 2015 “MTV Video Music Awards” on Monday 31 August at 2am.

Throughout his career, West has blended musical and visual artistry to powerful effect. From his trilogy of videos for “Jesus Walks,” to the mind-bending animation of “Heartless,” to the arresting imagery of “Bound 2”, he’s pushed boundaries and delivered something new with every successive video.

He joins the prestigious list of past Vanguard recipients including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Beyonce.

MTV has also revealed that Pharrell Williams, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky and Twenty One Pilots will be performing at the awards, alongside previously announced performer The Weeknd.

The MTV VMA will air live across Africa on MTV (DStv channel 130) from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, on Monday 31 August at 2AM (official pre-show starts at 1AM; the primetime simulcast takes place on MTV/MTV Base on Monday 31 August at 7PM (pre-show) and 8PM (main show, August 26, 2015)

Organisers say the show will feature Miley Cyrus as host, while additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
