Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested three suspected drug traffickers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos State.
The suspects swallowed 233 wraps and 5.05 kilograms of powdery substances that tested positive for cocaine. Two of the suspects, Obiekwe Frank Chuma, 47 and Okoye Jacob Okwuchukwu 43, were on their way to Hong Kong while Chukwunyere Prince Emmanuel, 39 was caught on his way to Italy.
Chuma said, he was promised $10,000 by his sponsors. Okwuchukwu stated that he was promised over one million naira. Emmanuel who claimed to have lost one eye to armed robbery attack said, he was promised 4,000 euros.
The Lagos State NDLEA commander, Mr. Hamza Umar, who gave a breakdown of the seized drugs, declared that Obiekwe Frank Chuma, ingested 80 wraps weighing 1.930 kilograms; Okoye Jacob Okwuchukwu, ingested 70 wraps weighing 1.515 while Chukwunyere Prince Emmanuel, ingested 83 wraps weighing 1.605 kilograms, all during screening.
