Beijing 2015: Bolt pips Gatlin to win 100m gold
Usain Bolt pipped Justin Gatlin to retain the 100m title at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing.
Bolt had stumbled out of the blocks in winning his semi-final but found a season’s best run of 9.79 seconds to win the title for the third time, reports the BBC.
Gatlin, 33, had been unbeaten in 28 races and started as favourite after running 9.77secs in his semi-final.
But Bolt, 29 had a much better start in the final and won his ninth world gold.
America’s Trayvon Bromwell and Canada’s Andre De Grasse were both awarded a bronze medal after clocking identical times of 9.911secs.
