Adepoju backs Eagles to crush Tanzania

Ex-international, Mutiu Adepoju, on Wednesday said that the players invited by coach Sunday Oliseh for the crucial 2017 Nations Cup qualifier against Tunisia would do Nigeria proud. The former midfielder stressed that Oliseh was optimistic that the final 23 players to be picked for the match would deliver the results.
“At this stage, we cannot afford to drop any point because we are in a tight group. This is not just my position but that of all Nigerians including Oliseh and the players themselves. They simply cannot afford to let themselves or the country down “Super Eagles did not make the last Nations Cup and Nigerians were inconsolable.
This time there will be no excuses and this is why I am confident that the players will be determined to beat Tanzania home and away.” Adepoju noted that the absence of key players like Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Odion Ighalo would not affect the chances of Eagles in the encounter scheduled to take place next week in Dar es Salam.
The 1994 Nations Cup gold medallist tells New Telegraph that people should respect Oliseh’s decision to drop Mikel, Moses and Ighalo for next week’s match. “Nobody should question the coach because he is in charge.
Oliseh knows how well the players can perform. If he decides to do without Mikel and Ighalo, then it is because he can attest to the performance level of each of his players and is sure that the players he enlisted are going perform excellently well. “We have to realise this is just the first match under the new coach and the truth is he also wants to win the match.
Nigerians should support Oliseh all the way because the team will get better as they move on.” The Tanzania, Nigeria match takes place on September 5 in Dar es Salam.
