Samsung Galaxy Note 5 release date, price & specs rumours - new camera details

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with stylus
With the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge now firmly out of the gate, the next big Samsung handset to look forward to is the Galaxy Note 5, the latest version of Samsung's high-end phablet range. However, it's been a particularly muddy year as far as rumours go so far, as there's been talk of not one, but two big flagship handsets on the horizon, with an even larger version of the Galaxy S6 Edge accompanying the Note 5 if not at launch then shortly after or before.

To help make things a bit easier, we've gathered together every last shred of information we currently know about the Galaxy Note 5, with a separate article dedicated to the S6 Edge Plus.
What you need to know, quickly

What is it? Samsung's latest phablet smartphone and the successor to the Galaxy Note 4

When is it out? Samsung traditionally launches its new Note in September at its IFA press conference in Berlin

What's new? Current sources suggest a 2K display, a new processor structure which combines the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage and modem on a single chip, a USB 3.1 Type-C port and there's a possibility there may be a curved screen version as well

How much will it cost? We'd expect the flat Note 5 to cost around £600 SIM-free based on previous experience, but the potential curved version could cost a lot more - around £760 SIM-free if the Galaxy S6 Edge is anything to go by

Release date - August?

Samsung is a creature of habit, releasing a new model in each range at roughly the same time each year. It has always launched the Galaxy Note at IFA in September, so it's highly likely it will do the same this time around with the Note 5. IFA takes place between the 4th and the 9th September 2015, so expect the Note 5 to be launched then. Samsung usually launches at a press day before the show launches, so the handset could be unveiled on the 2nd or 3rd September. However, the Galaxy Note 5 probably won't actually be on sale until October, as this was when the Galaxy Note 4 finally pitched up on UK soil last year.

There were a few rumblings that the Note 5 might be released in July in order to give it a head start on Apple's next iPhone, but Samsung's President of IT & Mobile Communications Business JK Shin has since quashed this idea and said that the Note 5's release date remains on track for September.
