Ondo crash leave 11 dead, eight injured
No less than 11 persons were killed while eight persons sustained serious injuries in an accident that occurred along Ile-Ife/Ondo Road in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State Thursday.
The accident, according to a police source, was caused by reckless driving and over speed by drivers of a Toyota Camry car and a bus along the road.
The source said one of the tyres of the Toyota Camry car bust and the car lost direction till it collided with a commercial bus from the opposite direction and the two vehicles caught fire and were completely razed.
The accident, which occured at the boundary of Osun and Ondo states, it was gathered affected free flow of traffic on the busy road for several hours.
A police offer said that eight of the passengers in the bus, including a toddler, sustained serious injuries, while 11 others were feared dead.
It was learnt that the victims of the accident were rushed to the Trauma Hospital in Ondo Town where some of them are still receiving medical treatment.
It was also gathered that some victims of the accident were burnt beyond recognition, while corpses of the dead passengers have been deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Ondo.
