No security presence around Dasuki’s home

No security presence around Dasuki’s home

There was no visible security presence around the Abuja residence of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) Friday between the hours of 4: 25 and 5: 20pm
When New Telegraph visited the John Kadiya Street, where the house lies between Oyo and Akwa Ibom states Governors’ Lodges, the black gate of the expansive mansion, was firmly locked, with no security vehicle or personnel seen outside.
Also, there was nothing unusual around the house, as there was free movement of cars and people through the former National Security Adviser’s home.
A police officer around the area, who spoke briefly with New Telegraph on condition of anonymity, said: “I saw some of your colleagues some hours ago.
“There is nothing happen here to suggest the enquiry you are making.
“I can speak about now that I resumed duties on this street; I have not seen any siege around here o,” he said.
There was, however, no response when New Telegraph knocked on the massive gate, albeit cautiously.
A security guard just few metres away from Dasuki’s home, said he was not aware of any unusual security presence on the street since he resumed.
Meanwhile, an online newspaper, Premium Times, has reported that the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Lawal Daura, has denied reports of invasion of Dasuki’s house by his personnel.
The online newspaper quoted Daura, whom it said spoke with the paper in a telephone conversation, as saying that, “I am not aware of any siege. What we are doing is celebrating Sallah and not carrying out any siege or house arrest.”
It was widely reported on Thursday night, that operatives of the DSS, stormed the former NSA’s house over undisclosed reasons.
Even the People Democratic Party (PDP) waded in with its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh ‘condemning the siege’ after saying he was prevented from visiting the former NSA, who was appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to Metuh the incident happened a little after noon on Friday when he purposely flew to Abuja to see Dasuki after reading about his travails in the media.
