Gunmen kill Suswam’s ‘political godfather
Gunmen in the early hours of yesterday killed the political godfather of the former governor of the state, Gabriel Suswam, who was also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Atoza Hindan, while on an inspection of his poultry farm. Saturday Telegraph checks revealed that the gunmen trailed the elder statesman on two motorcycles to his farm located on kilometre 2 along Katsina- Ala-Tor Donga- Takum road where they killed him on the spot. Saturday Telegraph gathered that all attempts by the deceased police escort to get the assassins down proved abortive as they were said to have resisted the bullets with charms.
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has condemned the spate of killings going on in Katsina- Ala Local Government Area and its environs in recent times. Ortom in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and ICT, Tahav Agerzua, said the trend had become unacceptable and directed the security agencies to rise up to trap down the perpetrators of the heinous killings. He expressed pains over the killing of chieftains of political parties in the state like Hindan whose reservoir of knowledge in politics, he said would be greatly missed.
