CIS reinstates commitment to financial literacy
The Chartered Institute Stockbrokers (CIS) has reiterated its commitment to sustained education of the youths on the procedures and benefits of making a career in the capital Market. The Registrar and Chief Executive of Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), Mr. Adedeji Ajadi, stated this at the graduation ceremony of SOFUNIX International schools.
He advised schools to cultivate the habit of creating wealth by investing through the capital market. Ajadi, who was the special guest of honour at the ceremony urged the parents to demonstrate culture of savings for their children as a potent strategy for investment in the medium and long term. He explained that young ones should imbibe the culture of wealth creation in order to develop an entrepreneurship habit in order to prepare them for purposeful adulthood. Ajadi said saving is a necessary condition for an investment and parents should encourage their children by buying shares for them as a reward for good academic performance and a gift for Christmas or Salah celebration.
He noted that CIS has always encouraged students at all levels to visit its headquarters on an excursion for an interactive session with its officials on the concept of the capital market. He disclosed that the institute has put in place Professional Diploma in Securities and Investment to attract a large number of secondary school certificate holders to penetrate the market and make a career in the medium and short term. He commended the schools’ management for creating an attractive environment where future leaders are nurtured. Ajadi who expressed satisfaction at the standard of the schools, instituted an award for the overall best student in English Language in the final year in the College as a way of promoting scholarship.
