Cancelled Kogi congresses now hold next Tuesday – PDP

Cancelled Kogi congresses now hold next Tuesday – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward delegates congresses in Kogi State earlier scheduled for July 14 have been scheduled for next week.
PDP National Working Committee (NWC), had on July 1, cancelled the delegates ward congresses held on June 27 in the state  ‎because “the participation of a “Local Organising Committee” which is unknown to the constitution of the party and the guidelines marred the congresses.‎”
But Chief Olisa Metuh, National Publicity Secretary of the party told newsmen Tuesday that the ‎NWC, after a meeting  with Governor Idris Wada, the congresses will hold next week Tuesday and Wednesday.
‎Governor Wada, who together with his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, visited the PDP National Secretariat a day after the cancellation, also held consultations with the party leadership Tuesday.
‎Metuh said the date for the congresses was fixed after the meeting with the governor.
He assured that the national leadership of the party “promised that they will be fair to all members of the party in the state.”
The ward congresses will kick start the process of producing delegates for the party’s primaries which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed between August 25 and September 14, in Kogi State.
Speaking after the meeting, Metuh disclosed that after the national working committee.
While the ward congresses were supposed to hold Tuesday, the PDP cancelled the Ward Congresses held in 27th June this year.
Although the party declined to state why it cancelled the congresses, it was gathered that the process was lopsided in favour of the governor.
The governor, in company of his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, however, rushed to the party headquarters apparently over the cancellation.
